NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 4 – 2016

SFpageheader

We want you to survive your eliminator pool this NFL season so we’re giving our free survivor pool strategy all season. Our picks are based upon our data driven NFL predictions and power rankings.

Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:

We start with our list of 15 predicted NFL week 4 winners (Eagles and Packers are on a bye week):

Bengals (against Dolphins)
Jaguars (against Colts)
Redskins (against Browns)
Patriots (against Bills)
Jets (against Seahawks)
Panthers (at Falcons)
Bears (against Lions)
Texans (against Titans)
Ravens (against Raiders)
Broncos (at Bucs)
49ers (against Cowboys)
Chargers (against Saints)
Cardinals (against Rams)
Steelers (against Chiefs)
Vikings (against Giants)

Now there are five steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool.

1 – Eliminate Toss-Up Winners

First we eliminate toss-up games.  That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list.  Gone are the Jets, Ravens and 49ers.  We’ve got 12 teams left in consideration.

2 – Eliminate Road Winners

Next we eliminate road teams.  I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all.  Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.

Eliminating predicted road winners, the Super Bowl 50 teams are out.  With the Broncos and Panthers no longer being considered, we have 10 teams remaining.

3 – Eliminate Low Ranking Winners

Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings.  The Bears (32), Jaguars (31) and Redskins (27) are predicted to win in week 4 but aren’t good enough to risk surviving the week with right now.  We have seven teams left to consider.

4 – Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams

Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration.  This eliminates the Vikings against the 13th ranked Giants and the Steelers against the 5th ranked Chiefs.  We have five teams to consider for survival.

5 – Eliminate the Teams We’ve Already Picked in 2016

We’ve picked the Texans, Panthers and Packers in previous weeks (3-0).  The Panthers have already been eliminated from consideration and the Packers are off this week.  We knock the Texans from contention and are down to four potential picks to survive NFL week 4.

Final  Week 4 NFL Survivor Pool Pick Candidates

4 – Bengals (against Dolphins) – The Bengals are at home on Thursday night.  I don’t trust the Thursday night games as teams tend to stray from their typical performances on that night.

3 – Patriots (against Bills) – After last week’s performance it’s hard to see the Patriots ever losing.  If they can trot a third string QB out and shutout a playoff team 27-0, they’re pretty safe.  However they’re playing a divisional foe and that makes this game a little more dangerous.

2 – Cardinals (against Rams) – The Cardinals are a strong home performer.  The Rams seem to figured out some offensive problems last week but can they hang with a high powered offense like the Cardinals?  The Cardinals should win convincingly.

1 – Chargers (against Saints) – The Chargers are good at home and the Saints struggle on the road.  Take Phillip Rivers to get the W and survive and advance to NFL week 5.  The Chargers are your NFL Week 4 Survivor Pool Pick.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 3 – 2016

SFpageheader

We want you to survive your eliminator pool this NFL season so we’re giving our free survivor pool strategy all season. Our picks are based upon our data driven NFL predictions and power rankings.

Survivor Pool Pick Strategy – Week 3 of 2016:

We start with our list of 16 predicted winners:

Patriots (vs. Texans)
Bengals (vs. Broncos)
Raiders (at Titans)
Cardinals (at Bills)
Jaguars (vs. Ravens)
Dolphins (vs. Browns)
Giants (vs. Redskins)
Packers (vs. Lions)
Panthers (vs. Vikings)
Seahawks (vs. 49ers)
Bucs (vs. Rams)
Steelers (at Eagles)
Chiefs (vs. Jets)
Colts (vs. Chargers)
Cowboys (vs. Bears)
Saints (vs. Falcons)

Now there are five steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool.

Eliminate Toss-Up Winners

First we eliminate toss-up games.  That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list.  Five teams are predicted  to win “toss-up games” in week 3.

Eliminated are the Patriots, Raiders, Cardinals, Cowboys and Saints.  We’re down to 11 potential picks.

Eliminate Road Winners

Next we eliminate road teams.  I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all.  Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.  All of our road winners in week 3 have already been eliminated so we’re still at 11 teams left.

Eliminate Low Ranking Winners

Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings.   This eliminates four teams, the Dolphins (24), Colts (26) , Bucs (29) and Jaguars (31).  We have seven teams remaining.

Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams

Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration.  This eliminates the Bengals, Chiefs and Steelers.  We have four team left to make our survivor pool pick for this week, Seahawks, Panthers, Packers and Giants.

Eliminate the Teams We’ve Already Picked in 2016

We’ve picked the Panthers and Texans already this season so neither is considered for this week.  The Texans are projected to lose at Patriots on Thursday night anyway.

And then there were three…Seahawks, Packers and Giants.

Final  Survivor Pool Pick Candidates

3 – Seahawks – Their offense is struggling mightily and even being at home, I’d be cautious with this pick.  The 49ers put up points on the road last week at a good Panthers team.  Seattle will need to score this week to win.

2 – Giants – The Giants host the Redskins and we predict a 3 point win.  This is a divisional game where the Redskins should show up and give extra effort not trying to start 0-3.

1 – Packers – The Packers come off a disappointing loss at Minnesota on Sunday night.  They’ll be at home hosting a Lions team that they have superior talent to this week.  Take the Packers to survive to week 4.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 2 – 2016

SFpageheader

Our week 1 pick was the Texans against the Bears.  Houston won 23-14!  Stayin’ alive to week 2!  Can we make it all season?

We want you to survive your eliminator pool this NFL season so we’re giving our free survivor pool strategy all season. Our picks are based upon our data driven NFL predictions and power rankings.

NFL Survivor Pool Pick Strategy for Week 2:

We start with our list of 16 predicted winners:

Bills (vs. Jets)
Lions (vs. Titans)
Chiefs (at Texans)
Patriots (vs. Dolphins)
Ravens (at Browns)
Steelers (vs. Bengals)
Redskins (vs. Cowboys)
Giants (vs. Saints)
Panthers (vs. 49ers)
Cardinals (vs. Bucs)
Seahawks (at Rams)
Broncos (vs. Colts)
Raiders (vs. Falcons)
Chargers (vs. Jaguars)
Vikings (vs. Packers)
Bears (vs. Eagles)

Now there are four steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool.

Eliminate Toss-Up Winners

First we eliminate toss-up games.  That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list.  In week 2, this eliminates several teams.  Gone are the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens, Steelers and Raiders.  We’re down to 11.

Eliminate Road Winners

Next we eliminate road teams.  I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all.  Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.

Eliminating predicted road winners at this stage just eliminates one team in week 2, the Seahawks.  Ten potential eliminator picks remain.

Eliminate Low Ranking Winners

Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings.  This elimates the Redskins (21), Bears (24) and Chargers (28) and leaves us with seven teams remaining.

Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams

Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration.  This eliminates the Giants, Cardinals and Vikings.  We’re down to our final four.

Final  Survivor Pool Pick Candidates

nfl-week-2-survivor-picks-2016

Survivor Pool Pick for NFL Week 2:

4 –  Lions (vs. Titans) – The Titans struggled last week while the Lions surprised.  We’ve still got the Lions ranked 17 in this week’s power rankings so they’re out of the running compared with the other three strong candidates.

3 – Patriots (vs. Dolphins)The Patriots won on the road against the second best team in the NFC from last season…without Brady or Gronk.  You simply can’t doubt what the hoodie is capable of doing as head coach.  This is a divisional game though so it could be closer than expected.

2 – Broncos (vs. Colts) –  The Colts might want to just let Andrew Luck stay in Indy.  I don’t see the Colts having any shot against the Denver pass rush.  Luck is gonna get knocked around.

1 – Panthers (vs. 49ers) –  The Panthers should be very motivated and this could be a blowout.  They’ve waited 10 days to get back on the field after losing to the Broncos by a point in the opener.  The Niners travel across the country on a short week.  Take the Panthers and survive to week 3.

NFL Survivor Pool Picks – Week 1 2016

SFpageheader

Requests have been flooding in for help with NFL survivor pools.  I’m going to give out my strategy based upon our data driven predictions and power rankings.

Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:

We start with our list of 16 predicted winners:

Bengals (at Jets)
Bills (at Ravens)
Cardinals (vs. Patriots)
Chiefs (vs. Chargers)
Colts (vs. Lions)
Cowboys (vs. Giants)
Eagles (vs. Browns)
Falcons (vs. Bucs)
Packers (at Jaguars)
Panthers (at Broncos)
Rams (at 49ers)
Saints (vs. Raiders)
Seahawks (vs. Dolphins)
Steelers (at Redskins)
Texans (vs. Bears)
Vikings (at Titans)

Now there are two steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool.

Eliminate Toss-Up Winners

First we eliminate toss-up games.  That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list.

So the Cowboys, Rams, Saints, Steelers and Vikings are out.  We’re down to 11 potential picks.

Eliminate Road Winners

Next we eliminate road teams.  I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all.  Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.

Eliminating predicted road winners, we cross out the Bengals, Bills, Packers and Panthers.  Leaving us with seven teams left to make our picks.

Eliminate Low Ranking Winners

Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings.  The Eagles come at 21 so they’re out.  We’re down to six potential picks.

Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams

Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration.  This eliminates the Cardinals who play the 14th ranked Patriots.

Now we’re down to five potential picks for our NFL survivor pool.

Final 5 Survivor Pool Pick Candidates

We’re down to five teams to consider as our NFL survivor pool pick, the Colts, Falcons, Texans, Chiefs and Seahawks.

5.  Falcons (vs. Bucs) – The Falcons are a shaky pick as they come in at 16 in our power rankings and play a familiar division foe.  They’re the lowest ranked of our final five and are tied for smallest predicted win margin.

4.  Colts (vs. Lions) – The Colts are playing the highest ranked opponent in the Lions, #20 in our power rankings and tied for the smallest margin of victory at 5 points.

3.  Chiefs (vs. Chargers) – The Chiefs are projected to win by 10 but play a division opponent so familiarity could make this game close.

2.  Seahawks (vs. Dolphins) – The Seahawks are a great home team and play the 29th ranked Dolphins.  We have them winning by 11 so this is a very safe pick

1. Texans (vs. Bears) – I like the Texans in this one because of their ability to rush the passer and create havoc for Jay Cutler who hasn’t looked good lately.  I think the smart pick is take the Texans as your survivor pool pick for week 1 and save some of the stronger teams for later in the season.
