NFL Survivor Pool Picks Week 8 – 2016

We want you to survive your eliminator pool this NFL season so we’re giving our free survivor pool strategy all season. Our picks are based upon our data driven NFL predictions and power rankings.

It’s a tough week for survivor pool strategy.  There are only 13 games and we project over half of those to be very close games.

2016 Survivor Pick Results
Week 1 – Texans (Win)
Week 2 – Panthers (Win)
Week 3 – Packers (Win)
Week 4 – Chargers (Loss)
Week 5 – Steelers (Win)
Week 6 – Bills (Win)
Week 6 – Chiefs (Win)

We’re 6-1 on the season with survivor pick results!

Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:

We start with our list of 13 predicted winners:

Titans (vs. Jaguars)
Redskins (vs. Bengals in London)
Falcons (vs. Packers)
Texans (vs. Lions)
Seahawks (at Saints)
Bills (vs. Patriots)
Browns (vs. Jets)
Raiders (at Bucs)
Colts (vs. Chiefs)
Broncos (vs. Chargers)
Cardinals (at Panthers)
Cowboys (vs. Eagles)
Vikings (at Bears)

The Ravens, Rams, Dolphins, Giants, Steelers and 49ers are on a bye.

Now there are four steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool.

Eliminate Toss-Up Winners

First we eliminate toss-up games.  That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list.

This wipes out over half of our candidates this week.  The Redskins, Texans, Seahawks, Browns, Raiders, Colts and Cowboys are out of consideration.  We have only six teams remaining.

Eliminate Road Winners

Next we eliminate road teams.  I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all.  Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.

Eliminating predicted road winners, the Cardinals and Vikings are no longer considered.  Four teams are left in consideration.

Eliminate Low Ranking Winners

Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings.  The Titans are predicted winners this week but are ranked 22nd so they’re eliminated.  Three teams remain.

Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams

Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration.  This eliminates the Falcons against the 9th ranked Packers and Bills versus the top ranked Patriots.  This leaves us with only one team this week.

Eliminate the Teams We’ve Already Picked in 2016

None of the teams we’ve previously selected are still in consideration.

Final  Survivor Pool Pick Candidate

The Broncos off a short week face the Chargers, a AFC West foe.  They’re the only team to fit all of our criteria for NFL week 8.  Take the Broncos to survive.

NFL Predictions Week 8 – 2016

Using our predictive formula we’ve predicted every NFL game on the board in week 8 including Patriots at Bills, Packers at Falcons, Cardinals at Panthers Redskins at Bengals, Raiders at Bucs, Chiefs at Colts and Eagles at Cowboys.

Sunday’s NFL action is loaded with games featuring teams trying to turn their seasons around.  In Carolina, there’s a rematch of the NFC Championship game as the Panthers host the Cardinals.

The Eagles come off spoiling the Vikings undefeated season with a trip to Dallas to try to edge the Cowboys.

Monday Night Football will be in Chicago where the Vikings will visit the Bears.

NFL week 8 starts with a lackluster Thursday night game as the Titans host the Jaguars.  The AFC schedule includes a Bills vs Patriots rematch.  The Bills shut the then Brady-less Patriots out a few weeks ago.

Six teams are on a bye including the Ravens, Rams, Dolphins, Giants, Steelers and 49ers.
