College Football Independents Preview

Notre Dame Fighting Irish – The Irish have a favorable schedule but they do travel to the Trojans in the season finale.  The Irish have holes to fill but Brian Kelly has been recruiting and won’t see a huge drop off, just needs guys to step up.  Notre Dame will be college football playoff contenders.

Army Black Knights – Jeff Monken is still building his program at West Point.  The Black Knights should improve upon last year’s 4-8 campaign but still need to build the talent up to make a bowl game.

BYU Cougars – The Cougars lost Bronco Mendenhall to Virginia in December.  New head coach Kalani Sitake has stacked his new staff with former Cougars.  His first year as head coach is going to be a challenge playing one of the toughest schedules in college football.  BYU’s opener against Arizona will tell you a lot about how this season will go.

UMass Minutemen – The Minutemen dropped out of the MAC after last season to go independent.  They’re young and inexperienced everywhere but the offensive line.  It’s going to be a tough year for UMass football.
