2017 Independent Football Preview
BYU Cougars – Can the defense keep teams under 20 points per game? If so, the Cougars could be headed for a great season. Tanner Mangum is back at QB and hopes to improve on last season where their four losses were by a combined 8 points.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Brian Kelly felt the heat this offseason. He changed both coordinators who he hopes can right the ship in South Bend. QB Brandon Wimbush is getting a lot of hype. The first two games of the year against Temple and Georgia will tell you how the Irish will be this season.
Army Black Knights – Plenty of starters back to make a return trip to a bowl and they hope to win the Commander in Chief trophy this season. A bowl win last year has expectations up for Army.
Massachusetts Minutemen – They’re young and need to find playmakers. In 2016, they scored 23.3 a game while giving up 35.5. There’s plenty of room to improve in 2017.
