2019 Independents Preview and Preseason Predictions

Six teams will play the 2019 college football season as independents. Three will go to a bowl game.

Notre Dame was able to make the College Football Playoff without the advantage of winning a conference title. Can the Irish do it again this year?

The Irish have the schedule to make a run back to the Final Four of College Football but games at Georgia and at Michigan make it very unlikely.

Army gets a 13th game and allows them to get the most wins of the Independents. They’re going to fly under the radar most of the season but they’re gonna be tough to beat each week.

Liberty, one of our 9 teams to watch in 2019, hired Hugh Freeze as HC. How quickly can he get his offense up to speed? Liberty will be bowl eligible and is a Formulator Bowl contender.

BYU is an intriguing team. The Courgars are middle of the pack in our preseason power rankings and have a lot of toss-up games. Can they win the close games?

UMass has several new starters on both sides of the ball. Will that help them improve on last season’s 4-8 season? The schedule isn’t brutal but is challenging for their level of talent.

New Mexico State has a very challenging schedule as they open up at Washington State and at Alabama. They host San Diego State before heading into their rivalry game with New Mexico. If they can stick together through September, they should be able to grab a few wins in the second half of the season.
