2019 National Championship Overview
The 2019 NCAA Tournament features the ACC and Big 12 regular season champs in the Virginia Cavaliers and Texas Tech Red Raiders.
After a hard to believe ending in the national semifinal game, Virginia marches into the championship game looking to go from being the first 1 seed to lose to a 16 seed to winning the title the very next season.
Kyle Guy had six clutch points in sealing a win for the Cavaliers on Saturday night. Guy hit a three to cut the lead to one and then was fouled on a three point attempt with Virginia down 2. He hit all three free throws to give Virginia a birth in the title game.
Virginia opened the tournament with a 15 point win over Gardner-Webb and best Oklahoma by 12. UVA advanced in the Sweet 16 with a 4 point victory over Oregon and then the Cavaliers eliminated Purdue in OT by 5 in the regional final.
Texas Tech has been dominant in the tournament. The Red Raiders advanced with 15, 20, 19 point victories before taking down Gonzaga by six in the regional final. They got back to double digit victory on Saturday night beating Michigan State by 10.
