2023 College Football Rankings – Week 5

A fantastic week 4 of college football shakes up the rankings as we have another new #1! The Pac-12 is looking good as we approach the middle of the college football season.

The major movers in week 5:

• Liberty (up 24)
• Georgia Southern (up 23)
• Central Michigan and Ohio (each up 21)
• San Jose St (down 18)
• Colorado (down 21)
• South Alabama and Boston College (each down 25)

College Football Playoff Predictions

If the 2023-24 College Football Playoff were this weekend, here’s the line-up:

• #1 Florida St. vs. #4 Ohio St. – The Noles have the best resume so far with wins over LSU and at Clemson. Ohio State jumps into the CFB Playoff with a win at Notre Dame and showing they’ve got what it takes to be contenders again!
• #2 Georgia vs. #3 Washington – UGA needs some SEC teams to keep winning so they can improve their profile and would draw a match-up with the prolific Penix of Washington. QB Michael Penix Jr. is charging towards a trip to the Heisman ceremony this year leading the Huskies to dominate wins.

Heisman Trophy Rankings

1. Caleb Williams (QB – USC) – passes the eye test still. He’s a phenomenal football player that makes playing QB look easy.
2. Michael Penix (QB – Washington) – dominating his opponents and trying to make it undefeated to USC in November in a game that could decide a spot in the Pac-12 title game and the Heisman.
3. Jordan Travis (QB – Florida State) –
4. Bo Nix (QB – Oregon) – he marched his team up and down the field against Colorado in that blowout last Saturday putting him back in the race for the Heisman. He’s got games in the Pac-12 against other superstar QB that’ll decide how far he can go.
5. Kyle McCord (QB – Ohio State) – Huge plays on the road at Notre Dame leading his team to a comeback win. He’ll have the opportunities against Penn State and Michigan to make his case.
