How to Bet the NBA on Christmas Day

by Matt Fischer

Christmas Day is filled with NBA games again this year highlighted by the Cavs hosting the Warriors in a NBA Finals rematch.

We break down each game and give you the best bet for each game including a side and total pick for one of the five games.  See our NBA betting pciks for every Christmas Day game below.

What's Inside

How to Bet Knicks vs. Celtics (12 PM ET on ESPN)

Line – Knicks -1, Total 211

The Knicks and Celtics are neck and neck in the standings.  They’re both playoff teams if the season ended now.

For the Knicks, Porzingis is probable.  New York has won 2 straight so it bring a little momentum in to the Christmas Day game.  MSG should be a buzz for this game.

The Celtics blew the Knicks out 115-87 last month.  The Knicks should want revenge but are they ready for the big stage?  Can they beat a playoff team?

Look for these teams to come out a little tight and with the early start, both could be sluggish early on.  I think that’ll lead to a low scoring game.

The Bet: UNDER 211

How to Bet Warriors vs. Cavs (2:30 PM ET on ABC)

Line – Warriors -3, Total 221.5

After an epic game 7 that saw the Cavs win the NBA Championship on the Warriors’ court, these two clash for NBA supremacy.

The Warriors have been on the road and been taking everyone’s best shot each game.  Golden State brings Kevin Durant to this NBA Finals rematch.  Can he be the difference?

Will the Cavs get under Draymond Green’s skin again?  As big of a game as this is for the Warriors, it’s even bigger for the Cavs.  They’re the champs.  They’re off to a great start and want to win this game at home.

LeBron is getting a triple double on Christmas.  Take the Cavs at the points.

The Bet:  Cavs +3

How to Bet Bulls vs. Spurs (5 PM ET on ABC)

Line – Spurs -8, Total 200.5

The Bulls have been up and down this year.  They got off to a good start but have faltered lately.

The Spurs are as steady as ever.  They’re a machine that just keeps rolling.  They know what players work best under Popovich and keep them stocked on the roster.

Kawhi Leonard will guard Jimmy Butler most of this game I’d expect.  That’s going to put the Bulls at a great disadvantage.  They’ll need to get points from somewhere else.

I think this is a game that gets ugly.  The Spurs overwhelm the Bulls and this becomes a blowout.

The Bet:  Spurs -8

How to Bet Timberwolves vs. Thunder

(8 PM ET on ABC)

Line – Thunder -3.5, Total 204

If you’re a basketball fan, this is a game you must see.  The Timberwolves have great young players in Karl Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and crew.  They visit the Russell Westbrook led Thunder.

Russ is going to put up huge numbers in this game.  He’ll be out to show the world, that he and the Thunder are just fine without Kevin Durant.  Look for another triple double out of Westbrook.

The Bet: Thunder -3.5 and OVER 204

How to Bet Clippers vs. Lakers (10:30 PM ET on ABC)

Line – Clippers -5, Total 217

The Lakers are much improved this season and would love to knock off the Clippers on Christmas Day.  They’ve got to find a way to win again though as they’ve lost 9 of 10.

The Clippers are without Blake Griffin but that didn’t stop them from beating the Spurs this week.

The Lakers will try pushing the pace all game.  It’s their chance to try to wear the Clippers down.  Chris Paul will try to slow the game and make the Lakers play defense.

The Bet:  UNDER 217
