Formulator Football Friday – September 16, 2016

by Matt Fischer

It’s Friday!  I’m looking forward to a great weekend of football.  NFL Week 2 and College Football week 3 have a great lineup.

Before we get to the weekend, I’d like to ask for a minute of your time.  I want your input on SportsFormulator and would appreciate if you could answer 5 quick questions here.

Recapping Last Weekend

Back to football.  We started the 2016 NFL season with a profitable weekend as we went 3-2 on premium picks.  Read the recap of our profitable Free Formulator Week and how you’d have made money last week.

Week 2 College Football went great!  We were 41 of 46 (89%) predicting game winners and 26-18-2 (59%) beating the spread.   We hope to keep that winning information coming this week!

$5 Friday and Free Pick

Everything in the Pick Shop is $5 today!  Take advantage of this special offer available today only and win this weekend!  We have both college football and NFL picks available.

This week’s free pick is Ohio State -2 at Oklahoma in college football.

NFL Week 2

Three games with playoff teams highlight NFL week 2.  The Steelers host the Bengals in a game that features two of our top 5 teams in our week 2 NFL power rankings.  The Chiefs go back to Houston to play the Texans.

The Texans will want revenge following  the Chiefs 30-0 Wild Card win in the playoffs last season.  Will Brock Osweiler make a difference?

The Vikings open up their new stadium against the Packers.  The Vikings won the division last year and will look to keep control of the NFC North with a win on Sunday night.

Our Week 2 NFL Lineup:
NFL Predictions
NFL Survivor Pool Picks
NFL Power Rankings
NFL ATS Picks
Consensus Picks for our Week 2NFL Pick ‘Em contests

We have NFL Pick ‘Em contests picking game winners and against the spread.  Here are the consensus results:

Game Winners
Panthers (100% – that’s correct) against 49ers
Raiders (94%) against Falcons
Ravens (89%) at Browns

ATS Winners
Saints +4.5 (88%)
Vikings +2.5 (88%)
Titans +5.5 (75%)

College Football Week 3

Saturday is stacked with big games!  Three games feature top 10 match-ups and all have huge college football playoff implications including Ohio State at Oklahoma, Alabama at Ole Miss and Florida State at Louisville.

The Big 12 desperately needs Oklahoma to beat Ohio State. The league has been beat up the first two weeks of the season including OU’s week 1 loss to Houston. Big Game Bob Stoops needs to pull out all of the stops to beat the Buckeyes this week.

Can Ole Miss do the unthinkable and beat Alabama three straight years? That could earn Hugh Freeze a spot in the coaching hall of fame if it happens.

My Top 3 Games to Watch in Week 3:

1) Florida State at Louisville – Bobby Petrino’s Cardinals have been putting up huge numbers on offense this season but will face their biggest defensive test of the season against the Seminoles. How will the ‘Noles handle the early kick on the road with a young QB?

2) Texas at Cal – The Longhorns are still riding high after their week 1 win over Notre Dame. The line has kept moving to the Longhorns. The Formulator disagrees with that as we have Cal winning by 2. I think taking a freshman QB on the road and giving 8 points is dangerous.

3) Miami at Appalachian State – Mark Richt is off to a great start at his alma mater but they’re on the road against a good team. We called for App State to win this game in the preseason and are sticking to it. After their close call at Tennessee, App State doesn’t want to let another win over a Power 5 team slip away.

Consensus Picks for our College Football Pick ‘Em contests

We have College Football Pick ‘Em contests picking game winners and against the spread.  Here are the consensus results:

Game Winners for the Big Games in Week 2
Ohio State (81%) at Oklahoma
Alabama (94%) against Ole Miss
Florida State (51%) at Louisville

ATS Winners for the Big Games in Week 2
Ohio State -2.5 (77%) at Oklahoma
Alabama -9.5 (77%) at Ole Miss
Louisville +3.5 (65%) against Florida State
