Free Picks for 2018 NBA All-Star Saturday Night

It’s NBA All-Star Weekend in LA.  All-Star Saturday night has become the showcase event of the weekend and I’m giving you my picks for who wins in case you’re interested in investing in the outcome.

Skills Competition

The 8-man field features guards and great young NBA big men.  Competiting in the competition are Al Horford (Celtics), Lauri Markkanen (Bulls), Lou Williams (Clippers), Jamal Murray (Nuggets), Joel Embiid (76ers), Spencer Dinwiddie (Nets), Buddy Hield (Kings) and Andre Drummond (Pistons).

I like Lauri Markkanen (+400).  He’s young and has something to prove on this big stage.  He’s a big guy who can handle the ball and move smoothly which works perfect for this contest.

3 Point Shootout

This contest has been tough to accurately predict in the past.  The favorite tends to not win.  Klay Thompson (Warriors) is the favorite this year as he leads the league in 3 point percentage this season.

Bradley Beal (Wizards) is playing well and comes into this weekend with a lot of confidence.  He’s an underdog (+625) so cashing this ticket will reward you handsomely.

Also throwing up 3’s in the shootout are Kyle Lowry (Raptors), Eric Gordon (Rockets), Paul George (Thunder), Wayne Ellington (Heat), Devin Booker (Suns) and Tobias Harris (Clippers).

Slam Dunk Contest

Four young players try to steal the show in the Slam DunkContest.  Dennis Smith Jr. (Mavs), Victor Oladipo (Pacers), Larry Nance Jr. (Cavs) and Donovan Mitchell (Jazz) will compete.

The crowd will likely be behind former Laker Larry Nance Jr. which could influence the judges.

I’m going to go with Dennis Smith Jr.  He’s a ferocious dunker and is ready to showcase his powerful dunks on Saturday night.  He’s a slight favorite at -105.

NBA All-Star Saturday Night can be seen on TNT beginning at 8 PM ET.  Check out our data driven NBA predictions all season long.
