Just 24 hours from a full day of football. Some big match-ups this weekend. Two games interest me the most because they could impact College Gameday coming to town next Saturday. If Mizzou beats Florida and UCLA goes down at Stanford, Gameday should be here in Columbia for Mizzou and South Carolina next Saturday. It’d be great to have them back in town. Hopefully I can get some ESPN’ers to stop by SFHQ while they’re in town.
Tiger fans wanted Matty Mauk to beat out James Franklin this offseason to win the starting job for Mizzou but Franklin held him off. The loss of Franklin last year led to disaster. Will it again? Mauk should be ready but gets thrown in there against one of the nation’s toughest defenses. The Gators can wreck havoc with their defense so this game should be a close battle throughout.
The formula think UCLA keeps it close at Stanford and it’ll be interesting to see how the Cardinals respond after their loss at Utah last weekend. Their Pac-12 destiny is still in their hands but another loss will have them scoreboard watching the rest of the season. UCLA is climbing the rankings and hope for another appearance in the Pac-12 Championship. This should be a great game tomorrow.
The big game of the weekend takes place in the ACC as Clemson hosts Florida State. A Heisman finalist and strong BCS Championship contender will emerge from this game. If Clemson wins it will put them well on their way to the ACC Championship and put Tahj Boyd atop many Heisman ballots. Don’t count out the ‘Noles. Vegas opened them as 3 point favorites and if that holds true and they come out of Saturday’s showdown with a W, look for the ‘Noles to make their way to the BCS and Jameis Winston to start getting a lot of Heisman talk.
What I think could be a great game this weekend is Washington at Arizona State. The Huskies are a good team but coming off losses to Oregon and Stanford so how much do they have left in the tank? ASU comes off a blowout win over Colorado and should be ready in the desert. I think you’ll see the scoreboard light up with this one.
So what is Jim Irsay up to with his calling Peyton Manning out basically this week? Is he trying to put attention on him and take it away from the team? Andrew Luck is amazing and I think better at this point in his career than Manning. The Colts are going to be in this game until the end. This is the toughest test of the Broncos’ season to date. I think the Colts have a good shot at taking this one.
Case Keenum gets to start for the Texans in KC against the vicious Chiefs defense coming off a 10 sack performance. I hope he’s ready because this Chiefs defense is going to shread the Texans front seven. The Texans need to find ways to get the ball to the outside quickly and hope Andre Johnson and crew can break some big plays.
Bengals and Lions collide Sunday in a game that features two playoff contenders. Both have put together good starts and look like they’ll be playing past December. If you like good football, tune in to this one.
Why is the Monday night game the Vikings and Giants? Seriously who’s tuning in to this one?
We were 8-4 (67%) ATS with 6 picks on both NFL and College Football last weekend! Are you winning with us? If not, join us with our Ultimate Football package and take advantage of the winning info we provide at SportsFormulator!
