Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:
There are easy steps to cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool. This week makes it a little more complicated because we’ve hit a point in the season where we’ve used 12 teams already.
Eliminate the Teams We’ve Already Picked in 2017
We’re 10-2 this season having taken the Bills (week 1), Raiders (week 2), Packers (week 3), Seahawks (week 4), Eagles (week 5) and Vikings (week 7), Saints (week 8), Rams (week 10), Patriots (week 11), Ravens (week 12) along with losing pick Falcons (week 6) and Texans (week 9 though we picked before the Watson injury).
Eight of those teams, the Eagles, Packers, Patriots, Raiders, Rams, Ravens, Saints and Vikings are predicted to win this week so they’re out our of group of 16 week 13 winners.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First we eliminate toss-up games. That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list. For NFL week 13, the Broncos and Titans are predicted 1 point winners so they’re out. Six teams remain.
Eliminate Road Winners
Next we eliminate road teams. I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all. Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.
Eliminating predicted road winners, the Chiefs and Steelers are out. This cuts us down to four potential survivor pool picks for week 13.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings. This eliminates the Chargers. Three teams are left to consider for our week 13 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration. This doesn’t eliminate any of our three remaining teams, Chargers, Jaguars and Cowboys.
Final Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
3 – Cowboys – Things are not going well in Dallas. They go from a Thanksgiving debacle to hosting the rival Redskins this Thursday. I wouldn’t be shocked if Kirk Cousins comes in and puts a L on the Cowboys in Big D.
2- Jaguars – The Jags are coming off a loss but returning home they should be ready to go against the lowly Colts. I think the defense will be ready to go and keep the Colts in single digits. With this being a divisional game, familiarity can make games closer than expected so the Jags won’t be my top choice for NFL survivor pool pick this week.
1 – Chargers – Phillip Rivers and company are coming off of an impressive win on Thanksgiving. While they don’t have much of a home field advantage in LA, they won’t need it against the Browns. The pass rush from the Chargers will overwhelm DeShone Kizer. This is a double digit win for Los Angeles.
Take the Chargers to survive NFL Week 13.
