NFL Survivor Pool Pick Strategy
There are simple steps to cut down your potential picks for your NFL survivor pool. Follow the strategy below to make your week 13 NFL Survivor Pool pick.
Finished 2018 with 5 straight wins and off to a 10-2 start in 2019 as we won last week backing the Chicago Bears against the New York Giants
We have 16 games in NFL week 13 so that’s our list to start. We use our data driven predicted NFL winners.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First, I eliminate toss-up games. That means I’m scratching the 1 point winners out of the list.
The Tampa Bay Bucs and Chicago Bears are predicted 1 point winners this week so they’re out. We’re down to 14 teams for our week 13 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Road Winners
Then I eliminate road teams. When you need a guaranteed win like you do to win your survivor pool, go with a home team.
We have five predicted road winners in week 13 so we’re slicing our list to 9 remaining candidates for our NFL Survivor Pool Pick this week. Gone are the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for teams that aren’t in our top 20 of the power rankings.
This knocks out one team from consideration for our week 13 NFL survivor pool pick as the Carolina Panthers are ranked too low for consideration. We’re down to 8 teams.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Finally, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 of our data driven NFL power rankings and take them out of consideration.
Several big games in NFL week 13. We eliminate five teams, the Baltimore Ravens, Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts, New England Patriots and Minnesota.

Final Week 13 NFL Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
Surviving the NFL week 13 cut are:
- Kansas City Chiefs
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Pittsburgh Steelers
I then compare this list against who I’ve already used this season. That list includes Seahawks, Ravens, Cowboys, Colts, Eagles, Patriots, Bills, Vikings, Saints, Raiders and Bears.
I don’t like to go with divisional games as my survivor picks but the three finalists are all in divisional games this week.
3 – Pittsburgh Steelers – The Myles Garrett game This is a rematch of the infamous Thursday Night Game where Garrett hit Steelers’ QB Mason Rudolph in the head with his helmet. Cleveland is playing better so I’m not going with the Steelers this week.
2 – Los Angeles Chargers – Desperate times for the Chargers. Can they rally coming out of a bye week and make a playoff push? The Broncos are still figuring out their QB situation so I like the Chargers to win but they’re not my favorite pick this week.
1 – Kansas City Chiefs – The Chiefs are coming off of a bye and can basically wrap up the division with a win over the hated Raiders. I’ll take the Chiefs to win at Arrowhead.
