Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:
There are easy steps to cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool this week.
Eliminate the Teams We’ve Already Picked in 2017
We’re 11-2 this season having taken the Bills (week 1), Raiders (week 2), Packers (week 3), Seahawks (week 4), Eagles (week 5) and Vikings (week 7), Saints (week 8), Rams (week 10), Patriots (week 11), Ravens (week 12), Jaguars (13) along with losing pick Falcons (week 6) and Texans (week 9 though we picked before the Watson injury).
Only 8 of those teams, the Bills, Jaguars, Packers, Patriots, Rams, Saints, Texans and Vikings are predicted to win this week so they’re out our of group of 16 week 14 winners. Our list begins with 8 potential NFL survivor pool picks.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First we eliminate toss-up games. That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list. The aren’t any 1 point predictions this week so we’re still at 8 teams remaining.
Eliminate Road Winners
Next we eliminate road teams. I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all. Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.
Eliminating predicted road winners, the four teams, Cowboys, Jets, Lions and Titans are out of consideration giving us 4 teams left.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings. There aren’t any predicted winners left this week that aren’t in our top 20. 4 teams are left to consider for our week 14 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration. This eliminates the Steelers who play the Ravens. The list is down to three.
Final Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
3 – Chiefs (against Raiders) – I’m a Chiefs fan and don’t expect them to win a game the rest of the season. They’ve become so erratic and can’t put a total team effort together. Don’t count on them if you want to survive.
2 – Bengals (against Bears) – The Bengals come off a physical game on Monday night. So with the short week and potential injuries or reduced physical capacity, they’re the second best pick this week.
1 – Chargers (against Redskins) – The Chargers are playing well and now sit atop the AFC West tied with the Chiefs and Raiders. Being at home, they know this is their chance to set up a potential division championship game in Kansas City next week. I’ll take Phillip Rivers and the Chargers to win. Take the Chargers to survive NFL Week 14.
