NFL Survivor Pool Pick Strategy
There are simple steps to cut down your potential picks for your NFL survivor pool. Follow the strategy below to make your week 14 NFL Survivor Pool pick.
Finished 2018 with 5 straight wins and off to a 11-2 start in 2019 as we easily survived last week as the Kansas City Chiefs dominated the Oakland Raiders.
We have 16 games in NFL week 14 so that’s our list to start. We use our data driven predicted NFL winners.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First, I eliminate toss-up games. That means I’m scratching the 1 point winners out of the list.
The Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams are predicted 1 point winners this week so they’re out. We’re down to 14 teams for our week 14 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Road Winners
Then I eliminate road teams. When you need a guaranteed win like you do to win your survivor pool, go with a home team.
This thins the herd. We have seven predicted road winners in week 14 so we’re slicing our list to 7 remaining candidates for our NFL Survivor Pool Pick this week. Gone are the Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennessee Titans.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for teams that aren’t in our top 20 of the power rankings.
This knocks out one team from consideration for our week 14 NFL survivor pool pick as the New York Jets are ranked too low for consideration. We’re down to 6 teams.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Finally, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 of our data driven NFL power rankings and take them out of consideration.
The biggest game in NFL week 14 features the Kansas City Chiefs visiting the New England Patriots. The Pats are out.

Final Week 14 NFL Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
Surviving the NFL week 14 cut are:
- Cleveland Browns
- Houston Texans
- Minnesota Vikings
- Green Bay Packers
- Philadelphia Eagles
I then compare this list against who I’ve already used this season. That list includes Seahawks, Ravens, Cowboys, Colts, Eagles, Patriots, Bills, Vikings, Saints, Raiders, Bears and Chiefs.
5 – Cleveland Browns – The Browns just can’t seem to get it together. I don’t like divisional games either even if it’s against the lowly Bengals so I’m looking elsewhere.
4 – Minnesota Vikings – The Vikings are on a short week coming back from Seattle after a loss on Monday night. The Lions have had extra time having hosted their traditional Thanksgiving game.
3 – Philadelphia Eagles – A disappointing loss in Miami last Sunday for the Eagles. It’s do or die for them now. We’re in the last quarter of the season and they still have a shot at the division. They’ll beatdown the Giants on MNF.
2 – Houston Texans – My only concern with taking the Texans against the Broncos this week is a letdown for Houston. After dismantling the Patriots last Sunday night, can they get back up for the Broncos? There’s a better week 14 eliminator pick.
1 – Green Bay Packers – The Redskins shocked the world with a road win last week. Can they make it two weeks in a row? NO WAY! The Packers are blowout winners this weekend!
