NFL Survivor Pool Pick Strategy
There are simple steps to cut down your potential picks for your NFL survivor pool. Follow the strategy below to make your week 16 NFL Survivor Pool pick.
Finished 2018 with 5 straight wins and off to a 12-3 start in 2019 as we dropped a close one last week as the Falcons went to San Fran and knocked off the Niners.
We have 16 games in NFL week 16 so that’s our list to start. We use our data driven week 16 predicted NFL winners.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First, I eliminate toss-up games. That means I’m scratching the 1 point winners out of the list.
The Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Redskins are predicted 1 point winners this week so they’re scratched off the list. We’re down to 14 teams for our week 16 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Road Winners
Then I eliminate road teams. When you need a guaranteed win like you do to win your survivor pool, go with a home team.
This thins the herd a bit. We have four predicted road winners in week 16 so we’re slicing our list to 10 remaining candidates for our NFL Survivor Pool Pick this week. Gone are the Ravens, Steelers, Cowboys and Chiefs.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for teams that aren’t in our top 20 of the power rankings.
This knocks out two teams from consideration for our week 16 NFL survivor pool pick as the Denver Broncos and Atlanta Falcons are ranked too low for consideration. We’re down to 8 teams.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Finally, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 of our data driven NFL power rankings and take them out of consideration.
We knock out five teams as the 49ers, Titans, Vikings, Patriots and Bucs face top 16 teams this week.

Final Week 15 NFL Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
Surviving the NFL week 16 cut are:
- Indianapolis Colts
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Seattle Seahawks
I then compare this list against who I’ve already used this season. That list includes Seahawks, Ravens, Cowboys, Colts, Eagles, Patriots, Bills, Vikings, Saints, Raiders, Bears, Chiefs, Packers and Saints.
3 – Indianapolis Colts – The Colts were demolished on Monday night. Can they rebound quickly against the Panthers? I’m staying away from Indy on the short week and since I’ve used them already this season, it’s easy to pass up.
2 – Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks are a great home team and should win easily on Sunday, but it’s a divisional game against the Cardinals and
1 – Los Angeles Chargers – Another divisional game but I like the Chargers to win big. The Raiders come off an emotional game, losing their last game in Oakland and the backlash. The Chargers bounce back with a blowout win this week.
