NFL Survivor Pool Pick Strategy
There are simple steps to cut down your potential picks for your NFL survivor pool. Follow the strategy below to make your week NFL Survivor Pool pick.
Finished 2018 with 5 straight wins and off to a 2-0 start in 2019!
Eliminate Teams Already Used
First, I eliminate the team I’ve already used. The Seahawks and Ravens have won to keep us surviving but are out of consideration for the rest of the NFL season. The Seahawks are predicted winners this week so we start with 15 candidates for our week 3 NFL survivor pool pick.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First, I eliminate toss-up games. That means I’m scratching the 1 point winners out of the list.
Only one 1 point winner this week so we’re eliminating the San Francisco 49ers. We’re down to 14 teams for our week 3 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Road Winners
Then I eliminate road teams. When you need a guaranteed win like you do to win your survivor pool, go with a home team.
Four predicted road winners in week 3 so we’re making another big cut to our list of 11 remaining candidates for our NFL Survivor Pool Pick this week. Gone are the Tennessee Titans, Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams and Carolina Panthers.
We have 10 teams remaining.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for teams that aren’t in our top 20 of the power rankings.
This knocks out teams from consideration for our week 3 NFL survivor pool pick including the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Bucs.
Eight teams remain for our week 3 NFL survivor pool pick.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Finally, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 of our data driven NFL power rankings and take them out of consideration.
This eliminates the who host the Kansas City Chiefs (against Baltimore Ravens), Los Angeles Chargers (against Houston Texans).
We have six teams to consider for our week NFL survivor pool pick.

Final Week 3 NFL Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
Surviving the week 3 NFL cut are:
- Indianapolis Colts
- Dallas Cowboys
- Philadelphia Eagles
- Green Bay Packers
- New England Patriots
- Minnesota Vikings
Once, I’ve cut the teams down and have my final candidates for my NFL survivor pool pick, I rank them.
6 – New England Patriots (against New York Jets) – I just don’t like divisional games. This one should be a blowout but I’ll save the Patriots for another week.
5 – Indianapolis Colts (against Atlanta Falcons) – The Colts come off two close road wins. The Falcons are comfortable in a dome which could make this a close game. I’ll stay away with some other good choices for our survivor pool pick this week.
4 – Philadelphia Eagles (against Detroit Lions) – It’s hard to trust that Carson Wentz is going to finish a game. I’ll stay away from them for awhile until he can play a full games for a few consecutive weeks.
3 – Minnesota Vikings (against Oakland Raiders) – Can Kirk Cousins make good decisions? His first and goal pass into the endzone last week was unreal. I’ll go with safer QB play this week.
2 – Green Bay Packers (against Denver Broncos) – The Packers come off of two divisional wins to start the year. The Broncos offense will struggle again. I’ll trust Aaron Rodgers to get the win.
1 – Dallas Cowboys (against Miami Dolphins) – The Dolphins could be the team to go against every week of the season in your NFL survivor pool. They have been destroyed in their first two games. Hard to see them winning on the road. Take the Cowboys.
