We want you to survive your eliminator pool this NFL season so we’re giving our free survivor pool strategy all season. Our picks are based upon our data driven NFL predictions and power rankings.
We’re 3-1 on the season after losing last week’s pick, the San Diego Chargers. The Chargers collapsed in the second half and lost at home 35-34. After leading 24-14 at half, they choked away the lead in the second half and had the most horrendous drive of the NFL season to end the game.

Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:
We start with our list of 14 predicted winners for NFL Week 5:
Cardinals (at 49ers)
Vikings (against Texans)
Dolphins (against Titans)
Patriots (at Browns)
Steelers (against Jets)
Ravens (against Redskins)
Eagles (at Lions)
Colts (against Bears)
Broncos (against Falcons)
Bills (at Rams)
Raiders (against Chargers)
Cowboys (against Bengals)
Packers (against Giants)
Panthers (against Bucs)
The Chiefs, Jaguars, Seahawks and Saints are on bye weeks.
Now there are six steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your week 5 NFL survivor pool.
1 – Toss Out Teams Already Picked
Week 1 – Texans (Winner)
Week 2 – Panthers (Winner)
Week 3 – Packers (Winner)
Week 4 – Chargers (Loser)
After eliminating previously used picks, we cut down from 14 to 12.
2 – Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First we eliminate toss-up games. That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list. This cuts out the Cardinals and Raiders. We have 10 teams remaining.
3 – Eliminate Road Winners
Next we eliminate road teams. I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all. Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.
Eliminating predicted road winners, the Patriots, Eagles and Bills are no longer considered. We have seven teams left.
4 – Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings. This knocks the 24th ranked Colts and 26th ranked Dolphins out of consideration. Leaving us with five teams.
5 – Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration. This eliminates the Cowboys against the 15th ranked Bengals, Broncos against 4th ranked Falcons and Vikings against the 11th ranked Texans. That leaves us with two potential survivor pool picks for week 5.
6 – Final Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
After using our survivor pool pick strategy, we’re left with only two teams this week, the Steelers and Ravens. This makes the decision fairly easy.
The Steelers are going against a turnover prone Jets team so we choose them over the Ravens. Take the Steelers to survive NFL week 5.
