Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:
There are four steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool.
Eliminate the Teams We’ve Already Picked in 2017
The Falcons blew a 17-0 halftime lead last week at home to the Dolphins giving us our first incorrect NFL Survivor pick of this season.
We’re 5-1 this season having taken the Bills (week 1), Raiders (week 2), Packers (week 3), Seahawks (week 4) and Eagles (week 5). Only 3 of those teams, the Raiders, Eagles and Bills are predicted to win this week so they’re out our of group of 15 week 7 winners.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First we eliminate toss-up games. That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list. The Chargers are our only 1 point predictions this week so we’re still at 11 teams remaining.
Eliminate Road Winners
Next we eliminate road teams. I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all. Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.
Eliminating predicted road winners, the Titans, Saints, Cardinals and Cowboys are out of consideration giving us 7 teams left.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings. This eliminates the Colts, Giants and Bears. 4 teams are left to consider for our week 7 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration. This eliminates the Patriots who play the Falcons in a Super Bowl rematch. The list is down to three.
Final Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
3 – Dolphins – The Dolphins are just too inconsistent to trust as your survivor pool pick right now. Their offense has been putrid most of the season but the defense keeps them in games. With this week being a divisional game against the Jets, they’re the least confident pick of the three finalists.
2 – Steelers – Pittsburgh is a good team but this is also a divisional game against a Bengals team coming off of a bye week. The Steelers should win but not confident enough for them to be the best choice of the week.
1 – Vikings – Minnesota faces the Ravens this Sunday. The Vikes defense is solid week in and week out. Joe Flacco has had a terrible season with throwing the ball to the other team resulting in pick sixes. I’ll take my chances that Minnesota can win rather easily. Take the Vikings to survive NFL Week 7.
