NFL Survivor Pool Pick Strategy
There are simple steps to cut down your potential picks for your NFL survivor pool. Follow the strategy below to make your week 7 NFL Survivor Pool pick.
Finished 2018 with 5 straight wins and off to a 5-1 start in 2019!
Eliminate Teams Already Used
First, I eliminate the team I’ve already used. The Seahawks, Ravens, Cowboys, Colts, Eagles and Patriots have been used this season so they are out of consideration for the rest of the season. The Seahawks, Cowboys and Patriots are predicted to win this week so we go from 14 to 11 to start.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First, I eliminate toss-up games. That means I’m scratching the 1 point winners out of the list.
Five teams are 1 point winners this week so we’re eliminating the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars. We’re down to 9 teams for our week 7 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Road Winners
Then I eliminate road teams. When you need a guaranteed win like you do to win your survivor pool, go with a home team.
Five predicted road winners in week 7 so we’re making another big cut to our list of 9 remaining candidates for our NFL Survivor Pool Pick this week. Gone are the Rams, Vikings, 49ers, Chargers and Chiefs.
We have four teams remaining.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for teams that aren’t in our top 20 of the power rankings.
This knocks out the New York Giants from our our remaining teams for consideration as our week 7 NFL survivor pool pick.
Three teams remain.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Finally, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 of our data driven NFL power rankings and take them out of consideration.
This eliminates the Chicago Bears who host the New Orleans Saints.

Final Week NFL Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
Surviving the week 7 NFL cut are:
- Green Bay Packers
- Buffalo Bills
Once, I’ve cut the teams down and have my final candidates for my NFL survivor pool pick, I rank them.
2 – Green Bay Packers (against Oakland Raiders) – The Packers are coming off a tough divisional win on Monday Night Football. The Raiders have been playing better and are coming off a bye. I’m staying away from this game.
1 – Buffalo Bills (against Miami Dolphins) – This game has blowout written all over it. The Dolphins had a chance to win last Sunday but blew it on the final play. The Bills are coming off of a bye. The Bills win big and survive.
