Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:
There are five steps to easily cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool.
Eliminate the Teams We’ve Already Picked in 2017
We’re 6-1 this season having taken the Bills (week 1), Raiders (week 2), Packers (week 3), Seahawks (week 4), Eagles (week 5) and Vikings (week 7) along with losing pick Falcons (week 6). Five of those teams are predicted to win this week so our list is cut to 8 potential NFL Survivor Pool Picks for week 8 already.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
First we eliminate toss-up games. That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list. The Bengals and Lions are our only 1 point predictions this week so we’re down to 6 teams remaining.
Eliminate Road Winners
Next we eliminate road teams. I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all. Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.
Eliminating predicted road winners, the Cowboys (at Redskins) are out of consideration giving us 5 teams left.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for team that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings. This eliminates the Bucs and Ravens. Three teams are left to consider for our week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration. This eliminates the Patriots who play the Falcons in a Super Bowl rematch. The list is down to three.
Final Survivor Pool Pick Candidates
3 – Patriots – I’m not ready to trust this New England team. They’ve been playing better but the competition hasn’t been great. The Chargers have won three straight and will travel cross country for this one. Look for Phillip Rivers to find a way to hang in this one.
2 – Chiefs (against Broncos) – Arrowhead will be rocking on Monday night with the rival Broncos in town. This is a divisional game and with teams being so familiar with one another it gives you pause. The Chiefs have lost two in a row so they’ll be ready for this game. The Broncos were shutout last week by the Chargers. Look for the Broncos to show up this week but the Chiefs win a close one.
1 – Saints (against Bears) – The Saints offense is rolling. In the Dome, Drew Brees and company are hard to stop. The Bears have been winning with Mitchell Trubisky yet he isn’t completing passes. He’s not completed more than 4 in a game the past two weeks. No way that continues and they beat the Saints. Take the Saints to Survive NFL Week 8.
