Week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Picks
The Eagles were the only team to make it through my NFL survivor pool pick strategy last week. The pick looked great when they started the 4th quarter leading 17-0. Well the Eagles crashed, giving up 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to lose 21-17 and get me back to a losing record on the season with NFL survivor pool picks.
I want you to survive your eliminator pool this NFL season so I’m giving you my free survivor pool strategy all season. After 15-2 last season, it’s a 3-4 start this season. I’m getting back on the winning track this week. My survivor pool picks are based upon our data driven NFL predictions and power rankings.
Our winning season continues as our data driven NFL predictions are 70-35-2 (67%) straight up picking winners and 60-40-7 (60%) beating the spread on every game this NFL season!

Survivor Pool Pick Strategy:
There are easy steps to cut down your potential pick for your NFL survivor pool. Follow the strategy below to make week 8 NFL Survivor Pool picks. The Lions and Saints have a bye week.
Eliminate the Teams Already Picked in 2018
We eliminate the four teams I’ve already picked including the Lions (week 1), Redskins (week 2), Vikings (week 3), Jaguars (week 4), Panthers (week 5), Packers (week 6) and Eagles (week 7). The Eagles, Vikings, Redskins and Lions are predicted winners so they’re out for this week. The other three are on a bye or predicted losers. We cut from 14 to 10.
Eliminate Toss-Up Winners
Next, I eliminate toss-up games. That means we’re cutting the 1 point winners out of the list. The Cardinals are predicted one point winners so they’re not considered for our week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Pick. Nine team remain.
Eliminate Road Winners
Then we eliminate road teams. I don’t like taking road teams to win in the NFL at all. Just too risky when you need a win, go with a home team.
Eliminating predicted road winners, the Ravens and Patriots, are predicted road winners this week so they’re out of consideration for our week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Pick. Seven teams remain.
Eliminate Low Ranking Winners
Next, I look for teams that aren’t in our 20 of the power rankings. This eliminates the 30th ranked Raiders. Six teams are in contention for my week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Pick.
Eliminate Winners Playing Good Teams
Then, I look for our predicted winners that are playing teams ranked in the top 16 and take them out of consideration. This eliminates the Houston Texans (against #16 Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football) and Los Angeles Rams (against #10 Green Bay Packers). We have four teams left for my week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Picks.
Final Week 8 NFL Survivor Pool Pick Candidate
After cutting down our list of potential NFL Survivor Pool Picks for week 8, four teams made the cut, the Steelers, Chiefs, Bears and Bengals. I’ll rank them in order of confidence:
4 – Bengals (vs. Bucs) – Tampa’s defense made a change at coordinator and they played better last week. The Bengals come off a blowout loss to the Chiefs last Sunday night so they can’t wait to get back on the field. The Formulator only has the Bengals winning by two so they’re my least confident pick.
3 – Steelers (vs. Browns) – These two tied in week 1. With Baker Mayfield now at QB for the Browns, he could make a difference in keeping the Browns in this one too so I’ve got two other teams I’m more confident in this week.
2 – Chiefs (vs. Broncos) – Kansas City is flying through the season, blowing teams out. They had a 10 point comeback on Monday Night Football in Denver a few weeks ago. The Chiefs win this one convincingly but since it’s a divisional game I tend to stay away.
1 – Bears (vs. Jets) – The Bears are good. They’ve finally found an offense under new head coach Matt Nagy. I think they’ll overwhelm the Jets and win at Soldier Field Sunday afternoon.
Take the Chicago Bears to survive NFL Week 8.
