Predicting NBA Opening Night Point Spreads 2017-18

Finally it seems the major storylines of this offseason have been settled now that NBA Training Camps are opening up.  The final two pieces came this weekend as Carmelo Anthony has been traded to the Thunder and Dwyane Wade has been released from the Bulls and signed with the Cavs.

We now look ahead to the start of the 2017-18 NBA season.  Here are our predicted point spreads for NBA Openers for every team.

October 17, 2017 NBA Point Spreads

Celtics at Cavs (-5.5) – Does Kyrie get his revenge?  The former Cav opens the season at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.  LeBron and his former Cavs will want to make a statement in this game.

Rockets at Warriors (-8.5) – It’ll be ring night for the Warriors as they host the new look Rockets who welcome Chris Paul to the team.

October 18, 2017 NBA Point Spreads

Most of the league opens on this Wednesday night as 11 games take place.

Nets at Pacers (-1.5) – The Nets should be better but after trading Paul George away what do the Pacers have left?

Hornets at Pistons (-2.5) – What will the Pistons get out of Reggie Jackson?  How will Dwight Howard fit with the Hornets?

Heat at Magic (+3.5) – The Magic should be a much better defensive team but the Heat should continue the momentum they ended the season with.

Sixers at Wizards (-7.5) – Can the Sixers young core come together and challenge on the best team’s in the East on opening night?

Bucks at Celtics (-5.5) – The Celtics will be playing a back-to-back after having played in Cleveland the night before.  The Greek Freak will be coming to steal the show in Boston.

Pelicans at Grizzlies (-1) – These two teams have two stars and the team that gets a third player to step up in the opener wins.

Hawks at Mavericks (-5.5) – The Hawks seems to be taking a major step back this season while the Mavs should be similar to last season.

Nuggets at Jazz (-2.5) – The Jazz lost Gordon Hayward and the young Nuggets should be ready to challenge for a playoff spot this season.

Timberwolves at Spurs (-7.5) – The Timberwolves brought in Jimmy Butler and are expected to be a playoff contender.  The Spurs will be steady as always and a tough team to beat at the Alamo Dome.

Rockets at Kings (+6) – The Kings are young.  The Rockets will be in game 2 of an opening back-to-back after having played the Warriors the night previous.

Trail Blazers at Suns (+4.5) – The Blazers have a great young team while the Suns are still building a roster.

October 19, 2017 NBA Point Spreads

Bulls at Raptors (-9.5) – The Bulls look to be one of the worst team in the league this season while the Raptors should be a playoff team again in the East.

Knicks at Thunder (-8.5) – Carmelo Anthony faces his former team in his new arena.  Can the Thunder gel with Anthony and Paul George right away?

Clippers at Lakers (+4) – These teams will have new looks in the battle for LA.  Chris Paul is gone from the Clippers.  The Lakers welcome Lonzo Ball.
