With Coronavirus (COVID-19) shutting down the world and suspending nearly all sports for the foreseeable future, I saw an opportunity to keep alive a great tradition, a college basketball tournament in March!
I couldn’t just sit around and let the NCAA Tournament be cancelled! That’s true March Madness!
Formulator Madness
Welcome to Formulator Madness, the first ever men’s basketball tournament brought to you by SportsFormulator. Follow #FormulatorMadness on Twitter – Instagram – Facebook.
Using our proprietary formula, we ranked all D-1 college basketball teams and created a bracket using the snake order for seeding.
Formulator Invitational Tournament Overview
- 64 teams (not 68 like those NCAA bozos) in a single elimination bracket
- 32 automatic bids for every conference champion. Since not all conferences had a conference tournament, regular season champions were awarded an automatic bid. If there was a conference tournament, we broke regular season ties with the tournament champion
- Tip off is Noon ET on Thursday, March 19, 2020
- The tournament will run the rest of March with the Final Four on March 30 and the FIT Championship on March 31, 2020
- The tournament will be simulated to a one game scenario so anything could happen. We could have four 16 seeds in the Final Four. Who knows how these games will play out on the computer?
- We want this to be interactive so use #FormulatorMadness on social media to engage your friends and make new ones over your love of college basketball and picking the perfect bracket!
- We will have contests on the site so get involved for your chance to win
- Yes we’ll have betting lines for the tournament (for entertainment purposes unless you live in one of those cool states that has legal sports betting already, come on Missouri let’s go!)
