Formulator Football Friday – November 30, 2018

by Matt Fischer

How ’bout them Cowboys?  Dallas shocked the football world, not just by winning last night, but holding the Saints to only 10 points on Thursday Night Football.  The Cowboys are looking like a playoff team now but are they Super Bowl contenders?  They’re going to have to win on the road in the playoffs to make it to the Super Bowl.

Week 13 Free NFL Picks

The NFL is pack to full schedule with 15 games remaining in week 13.  Several divisional match-ups this week.

Browns +6 at Texans – The Texans are off of a short week.  Cleveland is playing much better as Baker Mayfield is settling in to the NFL during his rookie season.  I think the Texans keep the win streak alive but this is a FG game.

Chargers +3.5 at Steelers – Pittsburgh plays well in primetime.  I’m going with the Chargers though with the hook.  Phillip Rivers is playing so well and his team will be ready on Sunday Night Football.  I’ll take them to not lose by more than 3.

Week 14 Free College Football Picks

It’s college football’s championship week.  My preseason picks for a few different conference championships play out this weekend.  Others are in the position I predicted to win or lose their conference championship.

Have you signed up for Bowlpalooza yet?  I announced our new ATS pick ’em contest for bowl season.  Check it out and reserve your spot in the new contest!

Georgia +13.5 against Alabama (SEC Championship) – I thought in the preseason this is what Georgia has been gearing up for since January.  The night they lost the national championship in OT to the Tide, the Bulldogs had to think they’d get a rematch in Atlanta.  Kirby Smart’s team has finally gotten it together in November.  I think they’ll keep the ball on the ground and get some big plays off of play action to keep it close.

Northwestern +14 against Ohio State (Big Ten Championship) – I wanted to make this a premium for SportsFormulator Insiders.  I just don’t trust Ohio State.  They looked great last week but what other game can you really say that this season?  The thing that kept me from making this a premium pick is it’s Saturday night and Ohio State will know what they need to do to impress the playoff committee.  That means Urban Meyer could hit the gas pedal and the Buckeyes might pour it on.  The Buckeyes are too up and down to trust so that’s why this is just a lean.

UCF -3 against Memphis (AAC Championship) – Shame Mckenzie Milton got hurt last week and can’t finish off the season for UCF.  With all that’s on the line for UCF, I think his teammates play inspired and find a way to win this game on their homefield to complete another undefeated regular season.  Coach Heupel will pull all the tricks out of his bag for the win so I’ll take the Golden Knights.

Clemson -27.5 against Pitt (ACC Championship) – Huge line for a conference championship game.  Clemson seems destined for a semi-final game against Notre Dame.  Do they want to send a message to the Irish with a destruction of Pitt?
