College Basketball Preview and Predictions for November 6, 2018:

The 2018-19 college basketball season starts tonight with a blockbuster doubleheader on ESPN beginning at 7 PM ET tonight.

We’re doing things a little differently this college basketball season. We’ll publish college basketball predictions regularly but will be more focused on the big games of the day.

We highlight Michigan State vs. Kansas and Kentucky vs. Duke in the State Farm Champions Classic to get things going this season in Indianapolis. All four teams will have a strong presence at the game so no advantage for either team based upon the site of the game.

Last Year at the State Farm Classic in Chicago

In 2017, Kansas beat Kentucky 65-61 in last year’s while Michigan State lost to Duke 88-81.

Kansas vs. Michigan State

The first game of the night features the Jayhawks and Spartans. Last season, KU was 20-17-1 (54%) ATS and going over the total while MSU was 15-18-2 (45.5%) ATS and 17-17 (50%) on Totals.

The Spartans, out of the Big Ten, have gone Under in 4 of their last 5 against Big 12 teams. While the Jayhawks are only 8-17 in their last 25 against the Big Ten.

Kansas is coming off of a trip to the Final Four last season while Michigan State got knocked out by Syracuse in round 2.

Bill Self is the best regular season coach in college basketball. Jayhawks win 82-78.

Kentucky vs. Duke

The offseason has been dominated by the fab frosh of Duke. These guys have garnered all the attention and some think the Blue Devils could have the top 3 picks in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Kentucky is stacked again. They’ll look at this as an opportunity to make a name against the highly touted Dukies.

The Wildcats went Over 22 of 36 (61.1%) games and 19-18 (51.3%). Duke went 22-13 (62.9%) ATS and Over the total in 20 of 35 (57.1%) games last season and 22- ATS.

Kentucky wins 77-74.

With so much turnover from season to season, it’s hard to get a grip for the talent on the floor. Coaching is the continuity so go with the coaches you trust more in each match-up.
